Copsa’s board of directors met this Friday with Pablo Labandera, national director of Transportation. According to the president of the Copsa Workers Association (ATC), Adolfo Silveira, The Observer The company informed the workers that at the moment “they have no money” and that the partial strike that has been going on since last Tuesday “surprised them.”

“Since December we have been sitting down to negotiate. They already knew that we were not going to continue supporting this tease”noted the ATC representative.

The workers met last Thursday the 8th with the Ministry of Labor with the aim of sending a resolution to the company’s board “so that it pays what is overdue in reasonable installments,” said Adolfo Silveira, president of ATC.

“They didn’t say anything about what we raised with them,” Silveira pointed out.

Last Tuesday, the union decided to implement a partial stoppage for an indefinite period of time affecting between 20% and 50% of the fleet at different times.

According to the ATC representative at the last tripartite meeting -MTSS, ATC and board of directors- the union warned that if the situation continued without a solution, the measure would be implemented.

The underlying conflict dates back to 2015, when the company began to pay salaries “in parts”, from the 10th to the 15th of each month.

On this point, the union says it tolerates payment “in parts”, but They ask that you “make the effort” to start paying on the 5th of each month, so that the salary is complete by day 10. “Something that can be bearable for the working class (since) since 2015 there has been no way to reverse it,” added Silveira.

Also, there are arrears in payments of the Christmas bonus for December 2021 and almost all licenses for 2022.

The national director of Labor, Federico Daverede, announced that next Monday he will meet with ATC and that the company wants to “find a solution together”.

“(Copsa) has had its complexities financially for a long time,” the chief said.

From the union they await the meeting with the MTSS next Monday and want tripartite meetings “so that a broken telephone is not generated.”
