After a meeting between Prime Minister Mirtha Vásquez, the heads of Energy and Mines, Environment, Justice, Agrarian Development and Housing, representatives of MMG Las Bambas and residents of Chumbivilcas, an agreement was reached that the conversations between these represented will continue as throughout the next year without measures of force on the part of the community members, that is to say, without the blockade of the Southern Mining Corridor.
The meeting took place last Thursday, December 30 at the stadium of the peasant community of Huninquiri in Santo Tomás (Chumbivilcas), where a dialogue scenario was prepared that lasted until the afternoon, when an agreement was signed establishing certain conditions to promote more conversations and the continuous unblocking of the national road.
As a first agreement, the Ministry of Transport pledged to designate a budget for the legal physical sanitation of the road to then continue with its asphalting, at this point it was also agreed to evaluate the maintenance of neighborhood roads and bridle paths in the area.
Las Bambas offered to deliver the maintenance, in the corresponding section of the road, to the communities of the Mining Corridor in Chumbivilcas through a consortium made up of the local communities.

Regarding the inclusion of the communities as an area of direct influence, Minam, through Oefa and Senace, undertook to follow up on the issue and publicize the possible modification of the Environmental Impact Study, while MMG Las Bambas undertook to consider these areas as places of environmental and social interest.
On the issue of the inclusion of peasant communities within the value chain, it did not reach any agreement, however, Minem will continue the meetings with MMG Las Bambas in order to reach a successful conclusion. between the demands of the communities and the offers of the mining company.

On this last point, the Minister of Energy and Mines, Eduardo González, said that his office is in charge of subgroup 3 “Evaluation of suppliers of goods and services”, of the working group that propose actions to meet the demands of the communities, calling on the mining company to continue with the dialogue until a final agreement is reached.
At the end of the meeting, the Chumbivilcas authorities, leaders and community members promised to continue with the working meetings from January 18 and 19 with Working Subgroups 1 and 2, and 3 and 4, respectively. without blocking the Mining Corridor at any point.
