San Francisco de Macorís – The executive director of the National Institute of Traffic and Land Transportation (Intrant), Hugo Berasdelivered this Thursday an Urban Mobility Plan to that municipality.
Regarding this first stage of work, where 22 interceptions will be intervened in the month of October, Beras pointed out that the Intrant is called to transform the mobility of the country, including that of that demarcation.
“We are submitting this work plan to you, with the entire evaluation of the public transport system, we have identified the interceptions of the largest number of records of traffic accidents and deaths in the municipality, to intervene in the month of October with your consent,” Beras said.
In this sense, in coordination with the governor of the Duarte province, Ana Xiomara Cortés, the municipal mayor of San Francisco de Macorís, Siquio NG de la Rosa, the deputy director general of Intrant, Daniel Canela, authorities of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) and the Universidad Católica Nordestana (UCNE), in addition to holding a discussion with organized civil society, Beras addressed different road safety, traffic and urban mobility solutions with residents of that constituency.
During his visit to San Francisco de Macorís, Beras reinforced inter-institutional collaboration alliances and supervised the construction of the Regional and Provincial Offices of the Intrant.
The head of the Intrant also participated in the actions to improve the fluidity and safety of traffic in university campuses, hospitals and commercial establishments in that jurisdiction.
In the same context, Beras also announced that, by order of the Dominican Government, concerned about the country’s road accident rate and the negative impact it has on Dominican families, the Intrant will intervene in provinces such as La Vega, Santiago, La Romana and San Cristóbal, in the coming months.
