Government will allocate 67.5 million pesos to popular pots and picnic areas

The general director of the Ministry of Social Development, Karina Goday, reported that the agreement with the Uruguay Adelante organization was extended, from September 16 to February 28, 2023, in order to support popular pots and picnic areas in the metropolitan area. . She limited that the total investment of the portfolio, during that period, will be 67.5 million pesos.

The official indicated that the context of the agreement is the incorporation into Accountability of an article to strengthen the food system, this item is assigned to the National Food Institute.

“We understand it is necessary in the transition, and until the legal norm is effectively consolidated, to have a final agreement to continue the service,” said Goday.

On the occasion, he reported that the number of people who resort to pots in the metropolitan area decreased, as well as the number of those who attend soup kitchens and food services offered by the National Army.

Finally, he stressed that the controls will be intensified to know exactly the number of pots, the portions that are provided and the hours of operation.
