The humanitarian platform Sé Humano demanded the immediate and unconditional release of the political prisoner Maycol Antonio Arcewho since December 25, 2018 remains captive in the cells of the Jorge Navarro Penitentiary System, known as “La Modelo”.

At the time of his arrest, Arce was assaulted by the police. One of the agents was suffocating him and they loosened his jaw from one of the blows to his face, said his mother, who witnessed the events.

This Thursday, September 8, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) requested the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR) provisional measures for 45 political prisoners who are detained in eight penitentiary centers by the Ortega-Murillo dictatorship. Maycol Arce is part of this request.
As of August 31, the Mechanism for the Recognition of Political Prisoners in Nicaragua reported that 205 Nicaraguans remain imprisoned for opposing the Ortega regime.
