Before going to meet the monarch, Truss stressed in the House of Commons, after a minute of silence, that Elizabeth II represents “the pillar on which the modern United Kingdom was built” and stressed that she was one of the greatest leaders the world has ever known. Similarly, he stressed that the queen fully fulfilled her promise made to her on her 21st birthday to dedicate her life to the country.
“The UK is a great country thanks to her. The Commonwealth is a family of nations thanks to her. She was devoted to the union of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland,” the “premier” said.
Now, that country will follow a “real mourning” mechanism that will last up to seven days after the celebration of Elizabeth II’s funeral, the date of which will be confirmed “at the time.”
Among other details that are being released today regarding the preparations for the coming days, until the funeral, it was reported that there will be no physical books of condolences in any of the official residences of the royal family and, instead, it will be enabled a website on the official online page of the monarchy.
