Vehicle production increased 8.7% in August compared to July, reaching 238,000 units compared to 219,000 in the previous month. In comparison with August last year, the expansion was 43.9%. Year-to-date production reached 1,478.6 thousand units, 4.7% more than in the same period in 2021. The data were released today (9), in São Paulo, by the National Association of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea).
“In August, for the first time in a year and a half, we were able to operate without any factory completely stopped. The flow of semiconductors is finally starting to improve, although we are still going through a period of supply restrictions”, said the president of Anfavea, Márcio de Lima Leite.
New vehicle sales rose 14.6% in August compared to July. In the eighth month of the year, 208,600 vehicles were licensed, compared to 182,000 July. It was the first time in the year that this indicator surpassed the barrier of 200 thousand units.
The daily average of 9.1 thousand registrations was also the best of the year. When compared to August last year, the growth was 20.7%. According to the monthly balance sheet, from January to August 2022, 1,308.6 thousand units were sold, which represents a drop of 8.0% compared to the same period in 2021.

The data also show that vehicle exports rose 11.7% in August, with the sale of 46,800 vehicles against 41,900 July. In comparison with August 2021, there was an increase of 58.9% in exports. In the year, there was an increase of 32.2%, reaching 335 thousand vehicles.
Sales of self-propelled machines are at a high level. In July (last data calculated) there were 9,130 units sold, a slight decrease of 3.4% over June, but up 16.4% over July 2021.
In the year, the total of 59 thousand agricultural and road machines sold exceeds by 26.5% the volume of the first seven months of 2021. Highlight for road machines, which, in June and July, had the best results in history, as a result of high investments in infrastructure.
