The Buenos Aires government created this Friday the “Going” program in order to prevent gender-based violence in young people between 16 and 25 years old through community proposals.
As specified in resolution 696 of the Ministry of Women, Gender Policies and Sexual Diversity, Published this Friday in the Official Gazette, the purpose of the measure is “training for the prevention of gender-based violence in youth, through the planning of community proposals that take into account territorial realities.”
“The Program proposes to develop instances of awareness, prevention and promotion of rights aimed at young people within the framework and in coordination with gender and youth programmatic areas in the Buenos Aires territory,” official sources indicated.
It was added that the proposal “proposes as a space for the creation of territorial devices, with young people (from 16 to 25 years old), in coordination with municipalities, state agencies that carry out programs aimed at youth, territorial organizations, feminist groups and organizations of anti-patriarchal men in the Province of Buenos Aires”.
The Program will deploy strategies for prevention and promotion of rights with young people, “with a feminist, decolonial and intersectional perspective of the problems suffered by young people, with regard to the rigid and violent reproduction of the sex-gender, binary and patriarchal matrix”.
Finally, it was argued that “since the development of meetings with groups of young people, and taking into account the particularities of each group, the mechanisms for prevention will be formed of violence, understanding as such artistic, cultural, communicational, sports, situations accompaniment spaces, among others”.
