Lula says he will raise minimum wage above inflation

Presidential candidate Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) said on Thursday night (8) that, if elected, he would resume the policy of real readjustment of the minimum wage above inflation. The candidate also spoke about fighting hunger in the country, saying that the population stopped eating meat, despite Brazil being the world’s largest producer of animal protein. “Brazil is the biggest meat producer in the world, however, people can no longer buy a kilo of meat to eat. took advantage of the speech to criticize Bolsonaro about his management of the covid-19 pandemic.

Lula also promised, in his speech, to restore important programs from the PT era, such as Minha Casa Minha Vida, for housing, in addition to increasing funding for education, especially universities and technical schools built during his government. In his official profile on Twitter, the candidate wrote: “We want our children to have new clothes, good food. That our family is respected. We want to live well, live well”.

The candidate also highlighted that he wants to invest in the Popular Pharmacy program, to guarantee free access to essential medicines for the population.

Still on the social network, the candidate said that he wants to invest in Baixada Fluminense and that he wants Rio de Janeiro to appear in the newspapers for the quality of education, food, employment and not in the police pages, with children being killed by stray bullets. “Our country must be humanist and fraternal,” he wrote.

Lula also took the opportunity to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, of the United Kingdom, who died today, aged 96. “In our government [de 2003 a 2010]the United Kingdom and Brazil had excellent diplomatic, political and commercial relations, marked by the State visit in which she received us in 2006. I remember our meeting at the G-20 meeting in London in 2009. My condolences to family and everyone who looked up to Queen Elizabeth II in the UK and around the world.”

Lula remains in Rio de Janeiro this Friday (9). He participates, from 10 am, in a meeting with evangelicals, in the city of São Gonçalo (RJ), in the metropolitan region of Rio.
