The debate
The emecista senator Dante Delgado recalled that more important than partisan loyalty, it is time to think differently, because if not, he said, “the Constitution will fail.”
In this sense, he called to defend the National Guard “that we gave to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. The Citizen Movement has spared no support for the president’s security policy, but let us not allow him to betray his own convictions due to the inability of his government”.
The Senator and General Secretary of Morena, Citlalli Hernández, criticized the security policy of former President Felipe Calderón Hinojosa and his Secretary of Public Security, Genaro García Luna, currently imprisoned in the United States.
“They militarized the country and caused a breakdown in public security and in the face of that, they kept silent,” he emphasized.
“They gave our peace of mind to organized crime…we want to pacify the country through a new police force, the president (López Obrador) had two options: leave everything as it was, pretend, swim like a dead man or make decisions about a more complex reality, today, the National Guard has given results,” he added.
PAN senator Lilly Téllez said that the objective of the militarization is for the elections, so that Morena wins badly in the next six-year term.
“I warn you that justice will reach you. The president and Morena twist and twist the law… Like the false prophet, López Obrador offered peace and delivered death. In this government there have been more deaths than in the past,” he declared.
Senator from Morena, Héctor Vasconcelos, proposed to all legislators that they join a criminal lawsuit for slander, defamation and non-material damage against the President of the Republic.
In response, the president of the Board of Directors of the Senate of the Republic, Alejandro Armenta, recalled that the constitutional right of legislators to express themselves is inviolable.
PRI senator Beatriz Paredes Rangel commented that this September 8 will leave a deep mark on each of the legislators.
“Certainly I never imagined that this government would present this initiative because in the campaign proposals the Morena candidate (López Obrador) certainly stated the opposite,” he said.
“I do not intend to defend any previous security strategy, also failed, that is why I want legislators to have a genuine concern for the national destiny, when they least reflect, we cannot give military jurisdiction to a police corporation,” he said.
