The social programs and emblematic projects of the government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador will again have priority in the budget for next year, according to the 2023 Economic Package that was delivered this Thursday to the Chamber of Deputies.
The 2023 Federation Expenditure Budget Project proposes a net expenditure of almost 8.3 billion pesos, 11.6% more than what was approved for 2022 and the highest in 14 years.
The Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) proposes that 10 out of every 100 pesos of the budget be allocated to these programs and mega works.
The government requests that the Chamber of Deputies approve spending of 836.451 million pesos for these programs and projects.
“The State has the responsibility to promote the well-being of the population and channel national economic development with social programs that support the standard of living of the majority, and projects that guarantee the integration of the different regions of the country, and that have a present and future”, assured Rogelio Ramírez de la O.
In total, the government contemplates 16 priority social programs for next year, which will have a total budget of 600,321 million pesos.
Within these programs, the one that will absorb the most budget will be the Welfare Pension for Older Adults, to which they intend to allocate 335,500 million pesos, an increase of 34.3% in annual comparison.
Other social programs whose budget stands out is that of Scholarship Programs, with 83,638 million pesos; the School is Ours, with 27,052 million pesos; and Pension for People with Disabilities, with 24,077 million pesos.
236,130 million pesos will be allocated to the emblematic works of the government, most of it will be for the Mayan Train, which would register an annual increase of 116%.
Another project with a considerable budget is that of Projects to build and maintain CONAGUA’s hydraulic works, with 44.693 million pesos.
