MIAMI, United States. — The United States is one of the most visited countries in the world. Annually, tens of millions of tourists arrive in the northern country to enjoy its modern cities, its national parks and its wide cultural diversity. However, there are not a few who wish to extend their stay and are unaware of the procedure to do so legally.
According to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS), those who have entered with a nonimmigrant visado not have a criminal record or have committed crimes that violate their non-immigrant status and have a valid residence permit.
To extend their stay in the US, the applicant must fill out the Form I-539 (Application for Extension or Change of Nonimmigrant Status) at least 45 days before the date your stay permit expires.
It should be noted that in the event that the request is made within a period of less than 45 days, the visitor must prove that the delay in submitting the request is reasonable and was due to unavoidable circumstances, that he never violated the condition of his visa, that you remain a bona fide nonimmigrant and are not in removal proceedings.
USCIS specifies that the applicant must also indicate the reason for the extension of the visa and must include a list of places to visit for more information.
That federal entity specifies that within the same visa extension request, the applicant can include their spouse and children, in the case of the latter as long as they are under 21 years of age.
