The premium cigar brand Cohiba, the most famous of the Cuban cigarsbegins this Wednesday the celebrations for its 55th anniversary, a day that will last until next Friday organized by the company Habanos SA
The day, which had a preview this Tuesday with a meeting for the press at the Grand Packard Hotel in Havana, includes for today the welcome night at the El Laguito Protocol Hall, also in the Cuban capital, an event in which Businessmen, specialists and lovers of the famous cigars produced on the Island, considered the best in the world, are expected to attend.
A visit to “the cradle of Cohiba Habanos, the famous El Laguito Factory” is scheduled for this Thursday, according to previously reported the joint venture formed between the state-owned Cubatabaco, from the Island, and the Spanish firm Altadis, a member of the British group Imperial Tobacco Group.
Cohiba is linked to the majestic house El Laguito. A gala dinner is scheduled for Friday at the Pabexpo Fairgrounds, announced by Habanos as “the finishing touch” of the day.
According to the organizers, it will be “a celebration full of luxury, exclusivity and passion for Cohiba brand Habanos”, in which the 2020 and 2021 Habanos Awards will be presented in their different categories, and an auction of humidores, whose proceeds will go, as is traditional, to the Cuban Public Health system.
“Cohiba had its first elaborations at the hands of cigar rollers such as Avelino Lara and Eduardo Rivero in the 60s of the last century, and today it has a great prominence in the world cigar market”, refers to this prestigious brand the agency Latin Pressaccording to which, although they are not made in large quantities, these cigars are highly demanded both in Europe and America as well as in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
Cohiba cigars, adds the review, “are of the highest quality, with full flavor, very aromatic, made with the greatest care and with scrupulous attention to detail, as mentioned by their producers.” The leaves used in its preparation “come from the selection of the five best fine vegas in the areas of San Juan y Martínez and San Luis, in the Vuelta Abajo region”, in the western province of Pinar del Río.
