Agents from the Argentine security forces seized a shipment of 30 kilos of cocaine that were hidden inside a truck bound for Uruguay.

According to what was reported by the Argentine media, the drug was intercepted at the General Artigas international bridge, on the border between Paysandú and Colón.

According to what was indicated by Argentine media, they were agents of the Federal Administration of Public Revenues (AFIP) who noticed the shipment. The discovery occurred when they were inspecting a truck that was circulating loaded with rice husks. The truck tried to sneak past other vehicles carrying rice.

The heavy vehicle, with Argentine license plates and driven by a citizen of that country, was waiting along with others for the completion of the routine procedures for entering Uruguay.

At the time he passed through the checkpoint, the agents inspected him and found the 30 kilos of drugs (valued at about 300 thousand dollars) in the place arranged for the driver to sleep.

The investigation of the case is carried out under the direction of the Federal Justice. The case is under summary secrecy in the jurisdiction of the Court of Concepción del Uruguay, with Pablo Seró as responsible.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested, while the truck remains seized. It should be noted that the incident took place a few hours after the Paraguayan authorities intercepted a plane bound for Uruguay that was loaded with 440 kilos of cocaine.
