The Alliance for Progress party (APP), led by Cesar Acunawho again aspires to be regional governor of La Libertad, is going through a new crisis after the broadcast of two controversial audios, in the middle of the campaign for the 2022 Regional and Municipal Elections, and which also implicate the president of Congress Lady Camones.
In the first of these, Acuña Peralta is heard asking Camones, from the ranks of his party, that the approval of a project for the creation of the Alto Trujillo district be speeded upwell “it will benefit me”. This in allusion to his nomination for the Presidency of the Regional Government of La Libertad.

After the broadcast, the also former presidential candidate has asked “do not take things out of context with illegal means”. Along the same lines, Camones stated that said audio “there is absolutely nothing illegal”.
Regarding the people who were at the meeting on August 30, where the audio was recorded, legislator María Acuña, sister of the party’s founder, mentioned: César Acuña, Lady Camones herself, legislators Magaly Ruiz and Heidy Juárez, as well as two advisers, in addition to the spokesperson for the caucus, Alejandro Soto.
Second leaked audio
The next day, Saturday September 3, in a new audiothe position of César Acuña and the bench against an eventual vacancy request of President Pedro Castillo.
Lady Camones also intervenes in this, who is heard saying that “in a month or two Pedro Castillo falls and with him, suddenly, we fall”.
While Acuña affirms that the bench must support a demarcation of the Castillo Government, because they cannot relate it to the president in the days prior to the elections on Sunday, October 2.
“I think there should be a statement, a message so that Peruvians know that we are not shielding Castillo. And those 34 days for me are key, key, key. They should not relate me to Castillo”, remarks Acuna.
After the broadcast of both audios, the president of Congress requested a license from the party and, in addition, has requested that he be investigated by the Ethics Commission of Parliament.
Who leaked them?
That same Saturday, September 3, congresswoman Heidy Juarez (APP), elected by Piura and who was present at the recorded party meeting, came out to deny the rumors that linked her to the recording and filtering of the audios, that had been broadcast on Epicentro TV.
Juárez pointed out that the intention behind the dissemination of this material is to “divide” the party and the APP caucus, as with Acción Popular, but he assured that this will only make them unite more.
“(Did you leak the audio?) I flatly deny that accusation which, by the way, has come out of the press, but not from my party”, he reiterated after the day before he also denied having been responsible for this dissemination.
But her party did not believe her and on Sunday the decision to expel her from the group was known.
“Said decision, firm and irrevocable, has been adopted after an internal investigation into the audio, illegally recorded and broadcast, of a meeting of the parliamentary group with the authorities of the political organization. As a party we have reached the irrefutable conclusion that you were the one who recorded the audio”reads the document sent by the National Political Committee of APP to Juárez.
The CEN of APP also questions that Juárez has met with President Castillo at the Government Palace last Friday, the day the first audio of Acuña was released. In this regard, she has said that it was a coordination meeting with the parliamentary bloc of the Piura region, in order to request a high-complexity hospital for the region.
“The mole stays in APP”
the congresswoman Juarez informed this Monday that he presented his resign from the bench and that he had asked the party for the technical expertise that supports his expulsion. He also regretted that after his departure, “the mole” continued in the game.
“I ask that, for peace of mind in my bench, they accept my resignation. I want to go quietly, but I will take legal action to find out who the mole is because the mole stays in APP. It’s not me, I strongly deny it. The mole mentioned by Mr. (Luis) Valdez and Richard Acuña remains in APP. Things that have happened will continue to happen“, said.
