The president of Congress of PeruLady Camones, was dismissed this Monday from her position, after the plenary approved a motion of censure filed against you after the broadcast of some audios in which he is heardpresumably, arranging the approval of laws with the head of his party.
The motion, which was presented with the signature of 23 congressmen from leftist groupssubsequently received 61 votes in favor, 47 against and 5 abstentions.
The request indicated that the audios, published by the Epicentro journalistic investigation portal, contain “sufficient evidence” that the leader of his party, Cesar Acuna, ordered Camones to approve the law creating a district to favor his candidacy for governor of the northern region of Freedom.

It was requested that it be censored for these reasons, as well as “for attacking the Political Constitution” and the “guiding principles that characterize” the Democracy and constitutional order in Peru.
The motion was presented one day after the Peruvian Executive requested the resignation of the entire board of directors of the Congress and that the Prosecutor’s Office and other agencies intervene to investigate the content of the audios.
The Prime Minister, Aníbal Torres, considered that there was evidence of “an activity bordering on crime”, while the Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Félix Chero, maintained that there was “evidence, not evidence, that reason for the commission of alleged crimes” criminal.
He mentioned among these crimes the usurpation of functions, illegal sponsorship, influence peddling and even an alleged criminal organization.
Following the Executive’s pronouncement, the Ombudsman He assured this Monday that the audios “would reveal an intention to use public power in favor of particular political interests, a fact that transgresses the ethical norms that should guide electoral processes.”
For this reason, he called on the Prosecutor’s Office “to carry out the corresponding investigations” and asked the National Elections Jury (JNE) to evaluate whether the rules on electoral neutrality had been violated by officials and public servants.
In that sense, the Special Electoral Jury (JEE) of Central Lima ordered that information be collected on the content of the audios to assess whether the principle of electoral neutrality was violated and gave Camones one day to make his defense “under penalty of issuing a statement without his acquittal.”
