How to identify if you are a workaholic?
According to an investigation by the Department of Psychosocial Sciences of the University of Bergen (Norway), it can be identified whether a person is a workaholic from seven signs.
If you answer ‘often’ or ‘always’ for at least four criteria, there is some indication that you may be a workaholic.
- You think about how you can free up more time to work.
- You spend much more time working than expected.
- You work to reduce feelings of guilt, anxiety, helplessness, or depression.

- You get stressed if you are banned from working.

- You work so much that it has negatively influenced your health.
Personality characteristics identified as workaholics:
- Affable: they are more likely to be altruistic, obedient, and modest.
- Neurotic: they tend to be nervous, hostile and impulsive.
- Intellectual and creative: they are generally inventive and action-oriented.
The study found that younger Norwegian workers were more likely to be workaholics. Gender, level of education and marital status did not appear to play a role.
Parents, however, were more likely to be affected, compared to those without children.
