Rains affect 57 homes Aserrío de Gariché, Jacú and La Arboleda in San Pablo Nuevo de David

The latest report on the afternoon of this Monday, September 5, from the National Civil Protection System regarding the effects left by the rains in the province of Chiriquí and stated that 57 homes were affected, especially in sectors of Aserrio de Gariché, Jacú and the Grove in San Pablo Nuevo de David. In addition, other residences in the Alanje Loom sector were also affected by this bad weather system in the province of Chiriquí.
The authorities have said that it is necessary to carry out mitigation work, channeling, dredging and placing some walls to avoid any situation that puts the population at risk.
“In the late hours of the night there were rains that caused the overflow of the Gariché River and the Jacú River, both of which are next to our township, so we make this call to the Ministry of Public Works and other authorities to collaborate with the support of the channeling and dredging of rivers and the construction of walls for the affected families,” said one of the residents of the sector. He said that at the moment the losses are material and economic, but they fear that in another possible downpour it will lead to loss of human life.

They stressed that every time it rains they are affected because the wall is already in poor condition and they fear that the situation will get worse.

Sinaproc reported that they continue to distribute humanitarian assistance to those affected by the heavy rains recorded in recent days and that caused flooding in the David Centro area and other sectors.
