A Nicaraguan delegation, which includes two of the sons of the country’s president, Daniel Ortega, and his wife, Vice President Rosario Murillo, are participating in the VII Russian Eastern Economic Forum, the Nicaraguan government reported Monday.
The delegation is headed by the Minister of Finance and Public Credit and co-chairman of the mixed Nicaragua-Russia commission, Iván Acosta.
It is also made up of Laureano Facundo Ortega Murillo, presidential adviser and special representative of the president for affairs with Russia, and Daniel Edmundo Ortega Murillo, media coordinator of the Council for Communication and Citizenship of Nicaragua.
The Ortega Murillo’s are two of the children of the Nicaraguan presidential couple.

The Nicaraguan delegation is completed by the Nicaraguan ambassador to Russia, Alba Torres, and the advisory minister of that diplomatic delegation, Claudio Arana.
The Sandinista government reported through official media that on the first day of that forum they signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation between the Communication and Citizenship Council of Nicaragua and the Russian Sputnik News Agency.
For Nicaragua signed Daniel Edmundo Ortega Murillo, in his capacity as media coordinator of the Communication and Citizenship Council; and for Russia, Vasily Pushkov, director of international cooperation for the Sputnik Agency.

The Nicaraguan delegation will also hold meetings with the co-chair of the Russia-Nicaragua joint commission, Veronika Skvortsova, as well as with Russian institutions and companies “to strengthen economic and commercial cooperation in strategic items and sectors, such as food security, health, agribusiness, energy , transportation, investments and trade in general”, according to the information.
They will also attend the plenary session of the forum, in which, according to Managua, “the special participation of the president of the Russian Federation, comrade Vladimir Putin,” is planned.

Nicaragua maintained that this forum has become a key platform “for the commitment aimed at creating new points of growth and opportunities for investment in the Russian Far East, as well as for providing a multifaceted boost to collaboration with the economies of the Region. of Asia-Pacific”.
The forum is dedicated “to a totally new agenda: the emergence of the multipolar world and its effects on global business cooperation between countries,” he said.
Russian companies and banks participate in this forum, according to information from the media in that country.
Russia is an old ally of Nicaragua that during the first Sandinista regime (1979-1990) provided the Nicaraguan Armed Forces with Soviet weapons.
