The Social Security Bank (BPS) and Antel promote digital access to retirees through the Ibirapita Plan. With this program, give free cell phones and workshops for people of legal age who meet certain requirements.
The plan was relaunched in July and in the first instance people who had digit 0 on their identity card were able to access a free cell phone and the mobile plan. In its first edition, Ibirapitá had delivered tablets to retirees.
The program is managed by the BPS and the benefits are granted at Antel locations throughout the country with a prior schedule. As stated on the BPS page, Ibirapitá allows retirees to access face-to-face workshops on the use of mobile devices, consultations and virtual content.
At the same time, people over 65 who are retired and collect up to $25,820 (equivalent to 5 BPC –Benefits and Contributions Bases-) can receive a free cell phone and an Ibirapitá Mobile Plan granted by Antel. The plan includes monthly and free 10 GB of navigation, 10 GB for Vera TV, 50 minutes to make calls to Antel fixed and mobile destinations and 50 SMS for Antel cell phones.
There is another plan for retirees over 65 who earn up to $41,312, equivalent to 8 BPC. In this case, you are only granted access to the Ibirapitá Mobile Plan.
The program also allows Ibirapitá Recharge for $200, which includes 15 GB to use for 30 days, three free destinations (fixed or mobile from Antel), five friendly numbers, free Whatsapp and free Spotify.
These new benefits are only for people who have not previously received an Ibirapitá tablet.
As reported by the BPS, From September 1, all the other digits of the identity card were enabled.
When the plan was relaunched, it was estimated that cell phones could reach up to 90,000 people.
During the first stage of the program, between 2015 and 2019, 280 thousand tablets were delivered.
