Panama takes 4 Open Passport statuettes.

Every year, within the framework of the International Day of the Tourism Journalist, the World Organization of Tourism Journalists (OMPT), rewards the most disregarded communicators and journalists in this important line of communication.

This year Panama was represented by Yelina Pérez from La Estrella de Panamá in the Social Relevance category, in which she won the statuette for her work, “Portobelo, a port of historical wealth that cries out for government action.”

Freddy Cristancho of the digital media MarcaPaisPanama.net, who is of Colombian origin, and confesses in love with Panama, was awarded for his article “The Panamanian Necropolis that deserves the name of El Dorado of Panama”, his nomination was in the originality category achieving a tie with his colleague from Spain, who curiously wrote about Cali-Colombia.
Izela Noriega from the portal MaleteandoAndo.com and Marlenes Pérez from Notiazuero, received special recognition for their articles “Warrior, a Mexican State loaded with many experiences to enjoy”, and “An uncertain future for La Pollera Panama”, respectively.

There is no doubt that the communication of tourism in Panama grows like foam. It is worth noting that the winners are active members of COPTUR, Panamanian Communicators of Tourism, a subsidiary of the OMPT in Panama. The award ceremony was held in San Luis de Potosí in Mexico.

Due to the above, it was announced that together with the University of San Luis Potosí and OMPT, the International Certification in Tourism Journalism is launched, which allows to continue growing in this specialization.
