A 45 year old man led in Punta del Este the robbery of an apartment in the building golden-gatelocated on stop 8. He was sent to prison by the Justice in the last hours, together with two other people who accompanied him last July, sources from the Maldonado Police Department confirmed to The Observer.
The local police were able to verify the theft in one of the apartments, and the damage to five other apartments in the same building, as reported then The Observer. The robbery occurred in six apartments on the first, second and third floors; there were forced doors and windows.

Box Garden Robbery

The detainee was sentenced for a crime of possession of drugs, not for consumption, to two years in prison. He will begin to serve under house arrest, pending an expert opinion from the psychiatric prosecutor’s office, which must determine whether the convicted person can serve his sentence in jail.
In April 2022 another building was also robbed in Punta del Este: Índigo, located at stop 29 of Playa Brava. US$50,000, jewelry, wine and a Rolex watch were missing, according to the police report.
