Ombudsman in Veraguas monitors fainting of students

After several fainting spells, dizziness and stomach pains were reported during the civic act at the Belisario Villar Pérez General Basic Center (CEBG), the Regional Office of the Ombudsman in the province of Veraguas, carried out this Monday, September 5, a new campus inspection.

The school was also approached by the Ministry of Health, Epidemiology, the Department of Health and Occupational Safety of the Social Security Fund and the Police for Children and Adolescents.


The human rights officers of the Ombudsman’s Office participated in a meeting with the administrative and teaching staff of the campus, in which the Ministry of Health determined that there was no food poisoning, or water or chemical contamination, due to recent cases. .


In the social area of ​​the school, the members of the Ombudsman’s Office participate, together with the Ministry of Health, in the investigations with the students of the affected seventh and tenth grades, to rule out other affectations.


The Ombudsman assured that it will continue to monitor the results of the new investigations.
