The cases of abused minors have risen notably in the country and the home is no longer the safest place for many of them.
The protection of minors is guaranteed in the Paraguayan Constitution and in the penal code the sanction will be from three to twelve years when the perpetrator has had sexual relations with the minor. If the victim is under ten years of age, the sentence may be increased to fifteen years.
All of this is indicated by the regulations, but nevertheless the reality is harsher and more unfortunate. In the pages of this newspaper there is an article entitled “Reports of child abuse have increased in recent years in the country” that, in addition to not selling a good image of society in the country is a horrible face for outside the country due to the severe penalties that exist in relation to child abuse.
According to conclusions that evaluate these cases, the cause of child abuse may be due to physical, mental, or developmental problems in a family member; family breakdown or violence between other family members; isolation in the community or lack of a support network; the loss of extended family support to raise the child.
Whatever the original problem, it should not be an argument so that, as we say in Paraguayan, “it is auctioned off” against minors. Child abuse should never be used physically or psychologically to avoid damaging their present and that this affects their future, which in turn affects the future of their entire environment, the one who has mistreated and the one who has been an accomplice of this crime.

How corruption itself does not depend only on those people in charge of punishing the corrupt but above all on the number of complaints filed in this regard, investigations and convictions. Appealing to the philosophy of protection and strengthening of the team, this only has chances of winning or emerging if we all play in coordination in harmony and respecting our physical and mental integrity, such as team sports, which are distributed in defense, midfield and offense. We need to act collectively to reduce these painful cases that hit the entire society.
Many times, for wanting to demand, control or correct, we resort to physical or verbal violence to achieve order today without taking into account the evil that could be seen in our tomorrow. The victim who may end up being addicted to a drug or become violent, imitating the same patterns that he once suffered in his yesterday and who gradually built up a resentment that explodes sometime, somewhere and in some way.
Childhood must be cared for and valued today to avoid serious problems tomorrow. Let’s be serious and good parents or responsible in caring for or training minds that tomorrow could teach or direct organizations or public or private companies where we never expect to see or have mistreatment of anyone.
