The oral trial in the so-called Vialidad case for alleged irregularities in the public works of Santa Cruz resumed this Monday morning with the start of the arguments of the defenses of the 13 defendantsin this case of the lawyer of the accused former president of Vialidad in that province, Héctor Jesús Garro.
First, the lawyer Mariano Fragueiro Frías expressed before the Federal Oral Court 2 the “rejection for the acts carried out to the detriment of the vice president that have really left us stunned and perplexed”.
The lawyer asked “to implore God, the source of all reason as our Preamble says, that hate does not win our society and any violent demonstration is absolutely an exception in the rules of our society and our social coexistence”, in relation to the attempted murder against Cristina Fernández de Kirchner occurred last Thursday.
The lawyer then began the final argument as Garro’s defender and warned that the prosecutors in the Diego Luciani and Sergio Mola case abused “circular fallacies” by “affirming issues that are absolutely non-existent and that in no way can reach our client.”
For the first time since the trial resumed in person after the suspension of face-to-face hearings due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the lawyer and the accused, Garro, went in person to the courtroom on the ground floor of Comodoro Py 2002, where TOF2 judges Jorge Gorini, Andrés Basso and Rodrigo Giménez Uriburu are also present.
The lawyer had also requested the presence in the room of the two trial prosecutors, Luciani and Mola, but both chose to continue their argument virtually connected from their respective offices in the judicial building.
The prosecution asked to sentence Garro to three years in prison on hold.
