OMSA will put SD and Santiago university corridors into operation

Santo Domingo.- As of this Monday, September 5, the Metropolitan Bus Services Office (OMSA) will put into operation several alternative routes for university students from Santo Domingo and Santiago.

Radhamés González, general director of the entity, reported that with the implementation of these routes, which will operate at night, the OMSA will respond to the needs of thousands of university students from Santo Domingo and Santiago who require economical and safe transportation to get around daily.

Through a statement, González explained that five routes will be enabled in Santo Domingo and one in Santiago, which will operate from 06:00 in the afternoon to 11:00 at night.

He explained that the five Santo Domingo routes will leave the UASD, but two of these will equally benefit O&M and Unicaribe students. The buses will be located in the surroundings of the university cafeteria, from where they will depart to different locations. The routes are:

  1. UASD-Boca Chica route, which will go along the Malecón, take Las Américas avenue and reach Valiente.
  2. UASD-Pantoja Route, which will run along Tiradentes Avenue and John F. Kennedy Avenue.
  3. UASD-San Isidro route, which will take José Contreras, Máximo Gómez, and John F. Kennedy avenues to San Isidro.
  4. Route UASD-Los Alcarrizos, which will go through Av. Dr. Bernardo Correa Y Cidrón, will go down Av. Italia towards O&M, take the Malecón, stop at Unicaribe, take Av. Luperón to Los Alcarrizos.
  5. UASD-Nigua route, which will take the same route as the one heading towards Los Alcarrizos, but heading towards Nigua.

In the case of Santiago, the UASD-Cienfuegos route will be enabled, which will depart from the UASD headquarters in Santiago, take the Olympic Village, pass through the Technological University of Santiago (UTESA), the Pontifical Catholic University Madre y Maestra ( PUCMM) to Cienfuegos.

The general director of the OMSA said that these routes were coordinated with the support of the National Institute of Traffic and Land Transportation (INTRANT) and representatives of the different student associations of the UASD.
