The UTE board approved an average 3.5% increase to its rates as of January 2022, a proposal that will be submitted to the Executive Branch that must define it before the new year starts.

UTE’s increase percentage is around 50% of projected inflation for 2022, according to the agency. “To make this decision, different scenarios of the Financial Program for 2022 were analyzed with the hypothesis of an increase in domestic demand of 2.5% and a more moderate level of energy exports than in 2021,” the state-owned company said in a statement.

“In 2022 the Social Electricity Bonus will be incorporated for the most vulnerable households, which implies a discount of between 80% and 90% for beneficiaries of MIDES programs and UTE social inclusion plans, some 110 thousand households in a first stage “Added the state entity.

For its part, OSE receives its users with an increase of 6% in January as approved by the board of directors without the vote of the representative of the Broad Front, Edgardo Ortuño.

“Without my vote OSE resolved a 6% increase. I proposed maintaining the value of the rate in response to the social emergency situation due to the pandemic that requires not increasing, resuming support for the affected sectors, not cutting the water service due to delays and evaluating in July, ”Ortuño said in his account from Twitter.

Antel does not increase

Antel breaks away from the trend of increases, as announced by its president, Gabriel Gurméndez, last week. “The board of ANTEL, the company, is not going to touch or make rate changes now, at this time,” said the chief.

“We have been making a very important management effort in the austere and professional management of the company’s expenses (…) We understand that this greater efficiency must be transferred for the benefit of our clients,” he added.
