Yesterday, the Central Bank published its financial stability report in which it is indicated that intermediation entities are in excellent conditions to continue offering services in the event of the possible materialization of extreme risk events.

In addition, it examines various current issues of financial policy that the country would be prepared to face, although they imply risks, such as those derived from atmospheric phenomena and geological disasters; hurricanes, storms, droughts and earthquakes.

There are other risks, such as biological ones, but we bring up this report, which we consider positive, to highlight that the Dominican Republic is prepared to continue along the path of stability and progress.

It is obvious that there are imponderables on this road and issues that we do not control, such as those that derive from geopolitical tensions, from the scarcity in the production of raw materials and the cost of hydrocarbons and maritime transport, but what we cannot go through high is that the country is better prepared than many other nations to overcome difficulties and unforeseen events.

It is in this context, although it seems brought by the bows, that we remember what President Luis Abinader expressed on August 16: “Today, the Dominican Republic is an oasis of peace and progress in a convulsed Latin America.”

There are those who made fun of it and poured nonsense on social networks because it is still true that many aspects of our daily lives are at least like an oasis, but if we put it in the context of “convulsed Latin America” it is to rejoice .

We will not dwell on mentions and comparisons, because they can be hateful or indelicate, but let’s take a look around us and the most we would find are countries with seriously affected economies and, in the midst of the precariousness and limitations typical of the time, their acutely divided.

Perhaps the best thing that can be done at this time is to support, each one with their daily contribution, to build a better country so that this oasis becomes more and more real and lasts in the construction of a better homeland for future generations.
