From the pre-campaign to the taking of protest: know the dates of the 2022 elections

Here are the key dates for this year’s elections:

Local Elections 2022

Pre-campaigns:
Each state has its own dates for the organization of its electoral processes.

Aguascalientes, Durango, Hidalgo, Oaxaca, Tamaulipas: From January 2 to February 10, the pre-campaigns for the position of governor will begin.

Quintana Roo: It will be in the second week of January when the pre-campaigns will begin in this Mexican Caribbean state. The stage of internal proselytism in the parties will be from January 12 to February 10.

Independent campaigns
Those who aspire to participate in the electoral process through the figure of independent candidacy, will have between December 13 and February 10 to collect citizen signatures that support their intention.

Registration of candidatures
When the political parties and their allies, in case of going in a coalition, define their candidates, they must register them before the electoral body of their states. Although it depends on each entity, the registration period will be between February 23 and March 28.

Bells
The proselytizing process in the six election states will run from April 3 through Wednesday, June 1. It will be 60 days of campaigns, which will once again be marked by the coronavirus pandemic.
