Some 13 wooden logs that were illegally felled were seized in a land surveillance and patrol operation carried out within the Soberanía National Park, confirmed Major Elvin Ortiz of the Environmental, Rural and Tourist Police.
In this police action, two citizens of Panamanian nationality were captured inside the Soberanía National Park, for the alleged crime of illegal logging.
Experts in environmental matters determined that it is the Dalvergia Retusa timber species, popularly known as “Cocobolo Wood”, which is used for making furniture, and even in luxury cars.
