Located in the central region of Rio de Janeiro, the Light Energy Museum reopens its doors to the public tomorrow (5), after being closed for more than two years, with a new interactive exhibition. The space is recognized for its educational work in raising awareness about the efficient use of electricity, encouraging visitors to reflect on consumption habits and waste reduction.
Indicated for students in kindergarten, elementary school I and II, high school and youth and adult education (EJA), the museum offers free transportation to public schools. Admission is free, but you must schedule a visit. fur site.
The new space clarifies the mysteries surrounding electricity, contributing to the awareness of energy efficiency, informs the specialist in marketing and social responsibility of Light, Estela Alves. “Energy is a broad and complex topic. It is fully inserted in our daily lives and we don’t even realize it. The museum brings this awareness in a fun and interactive way.” For Estela, whoever enters the museum leaves with a new perception of its role as a consumer and the importance of changing habits and contributing to energy efficiency.
The space has been renovated in recent years with the aim of offering visitors an innovative exhibition that teaches energy through interactive digital, electronic and mechanical experiences. The exhibition has 11 experiences distributed in three environments: Bright Room, Energy Tunnel and Dark Room.
Itinerary
The tour starts at Sala Clara, which has games, interactive panels and a model that shows how energy generation is. Still on this floor, the public begins to discover energy and its different forms, transformations and sources.
Next, visitors enter the Energy Tunnel and perceive, through their movements with images and sounds, that their body also produces energy. Exiting the tunnel, the Dark Room reveals the movement of the electron and the most basic concepts such as electricity, magnetism and electromagnetism. One of the new experiments promotes a collective game, in which people manage to move energy to turn on the lights in a building.
Located in the Light Cultural Center, at Avenida Marechal Floriano, 168, the Light Energy Museum received around 4,000 educational institutions and more than 160,000 visitors between 2012 and 2020. The museum has resources from the Agency’s Energy Efficiency Program of Electric Energy (PEE Aneel).
