Colonel PNP(r) Juan Esteban Asmat Bucalo presented his resignation to the position of director general of the General Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of the Interior (Digimin). According to La República sources, the retired officer’s resignation is due to the differences he had with Minister Willy Huerta.
It was on August 21 that Asmat Bucalo was appointed to the position with ministerial resolution No. 1188-2022-IN by Interior Minister Willy Huerta; however, he revealed that during the performance of his functions they would not have agreed on some decisions in the sector.
This situation motivated the colonel to step aside presenting his resignation as Chief of the Digimin. In this way, the Government of Pedro Castillo will appoint a person in the position in the coming days.
Asmat came to replace General (r) Whitman Rios, who assumed the reins of Digimin after César Vallejos Mori resigned after the resignation of former Minister Mariano Gonzáles.
