An Argentine tourist, Eduardo Aguirre (48), reported to the police that he had been robbed and robbed of his truck in the city of Presidente Franco.
A resident of the neighboring town of Puerto Yguazú, he himself reported that he crossed the border on Saturday to make some purchases in Ciudad del Este.
When he was about to return via raft by President Franco, he refers, he was intercepted by three men who, claiming to be policemen, began to ask him questions, first, and then threatened him with firearms to strip him of his belongings, including the truck.
The victim received help from neighbors in the area, who took him to the local police station to file his complaint. Agents of the unit later received notice that the foreigner’s cell phone had been abandoned on the premises of a local soccer club.
According to the description that the tourist gave of his robbers, they coincide with other complaints of people who were “tightened” by them.
ASSAULTS AND SCAMS
Merchants and residents of Ciudad del Este denounced that in recent days there have been cases of assaults and scams on tourists who come to the area to make purchases.
These episodes, they affirm, constitute plagues that scare away the shopping tourism that gives life to the capital of Alto Paraná.
They demand that the national authorities take urgent measures to overcome the problem, since the episodes begin to impact the economy of the border.
Last week, the Brazilian tourist Eduardo Nunez denounced that he was robbed inside a minibus that transported him to CDE, in which he was robbed of 500 reais.
The day after the event, Teodoro Beck, also a Brazilian citizen, was robbed, and the bandits took the sum of 2,100 reais.
Reports of fraud complaints also occurred systematically. In some episodes, those denounced are the merchants themselves.
