Customs seized merchandise with an estimated value of more than $37 million, in an operation called “Mesopotamia” that included coordinated controls between the provinces of Corrientes, Entre Ríos and Santa Fe.
Through a statement released this Saturday, Customs reported that between August 26 and 27, coordinated controls were carried out in the provinces of Corrientes, Entre Ríos and Santa Fe, in a joint action known as Operative Mesopotamia.
Carried out with the aim of preventing the illegal entry of merchandise into the country, paying special attention to the traceability of the commercial chain, trademark fraud and intellectual property, the agency highlighted that had the participation of four Regional Directorates and a total of fifty agents, who seized merchandise for a value that in the market amounts to $37,095,760.
The inspections were carried out on routes and highways of San Lorenzo and San Pedro, in Santa Fe; Concordia, Diamante and Gualeguaychú, in Entre Ríos; and finally, Paso de los Libres, Corrientes, on the border with Brazil.
Between the 180 packages seized cell phones, batteries, tires, footwear and clothing with various infractions are registered.
In this way, they pointed out that the operation had the collaboration of the relevant federal and provincial security forces, and appealed to documentary control and vehicle inspections, assisted by Scan Vans and Customs dogs.
