Meduca files a complaint with the Public Ministry for alleged false diplomas

The director of Legal Advice of the Ministry of Education (Meduca), Jorge Chang, filed a complaint on Tuesday with the headquarters of the Public Ministry (MP) of the district of San Miguelito, to investigate the alleged falsification of almost 40 university diplomas.

The diplomas were presented by teachers with the aim of obtaining a higher score in the vacancies competition for appointments of educators in the Regional Directorate of Education of San Miguelito.

Previously, Meduca’s director of Legal Advice had warned that if the educators who are in the contest, and are not from the system, were found to have falsehoods in their certificates or diplomas, they would be withdrawn and criminally denounced.

Likewise, he said that the educators who are from the system and are proven that they introduced supposedly altered diplomas would be withdrawn, the documents will not be valued and a disciplinary process will be opened to remove them.

Regarding this case, the General Subdirectorate of Education announced that the investigations are continuing and the other 15 regional directorates were notified of the probability of more irregularities.

Some of the alleged falsehoods found by Meduca were the signatures of rectors, lack of barcodes and stamps on undergraduate, master’s and postgraduate diplomas.

The investigations established that the possibly altered documents are from the Latina, Metropolitan Universities of Education, Science and Technology and Panama, whose representatives will also file complaints with the Public Ministry.
