The rescue of the typical rhythms of the East was revealed again in the XXXI Youth Folk Festival of Regional Dances Elay Puej, which took place last night at the cambodromo.
On the occasion, one of the characteristics of the festival was honored: punctuality, started at 7:30 p.m. and ended at 9:30 p.m. thus fulfilling the two hours announced by Héctor Molina, director of the festival from and of the Paitití Cultural Project, which has organized Elay Puej since the first version in 1990.
There were more than 1,300 dancers from 15 artistic groups that participated in this event. The presence of new casts, which came from the Santa Cruz provinces, such as El Carmen Rivero Torrez (Germán Busch province) and the artistic group Fusionar, made up of dancers who belong to the municipalities of Minero and General Saavedra, was highlighted.
The dance corps of the Enrique Finot Teacher Training School also stood out, presenting two paintings: a chobena and a dance from 200 years ago that gave rise to the Carnival. The piece was proposed by Molina.
Another noteworthy aspect of the oldest regional dance event in Santa Cruz was the presence of one of the oldest artistic groups: the Kerembas folkloric ballet.
Also the groups Hamacas, Arte Chaqueño, Sombrero ‘e Saó shone and the representatives of different educational units such as Mario Vaca Díez and Marcelino Champagnat.
It is worth noting that the dances they presented were prepared based on an investigation of each culture in order to show as close as possible to the customs of each one of them. In this way, it contributes to the rescue of the typical rhythms of eastern Bolivia.
