Ortega justifies his 2018 massacre: «What would have happened if we had not stopped the terrorist attack?

During the central act prior to the military parade for the 43rd anniversary of the founding of the Nicaraguan Army, held this Saturday, September 3, in Managua, dictator Daniel Ortega went back to the social protests of 2018 and justified his repression, stating that the The Army and the Police have “worked for peace.”

“This is an Army that has already been consolidated, an Army with a strength that is given by long history (…) and that has been forged. Today it is a firm, solid, well-prepared Army willing to assume all the tasks and conditions that the country demands,” said the Nicaraguan president.

He stressed that when he returned to power in 2007, his regime managed to “build peace until 2018, the year of the civic rebellion that left a balance of more than 300 murdered, according to human rights organizations.

“That period of peace allowed us to build the road to San Carlos (…) and then we started working on the road to Bluefields so that it would join the Pacific and allow more economic development in that area where thousands of peasant families worked with their fingernails” , he remembered.

“Coupism, enemy of the poor”

Alluding to the opposition against his regime, Ortega pointed out that “the coup, terrorism did not manage to stop the work of Nicaraguans, of course there was a shock that hindered projects that could move faster, because the coup is the enemy of the poor, they don’t want schools for the poor, they don’t want health for the poor, they don’t want food for the poor, they want everything for themselves”, ranted the dictator throwing his old speech about being poor, although he and his children live like millionaires while has multiplied misery throughout the country.

He also defended the police and paramilitary attack against demonstrators, alleging that “what would have happened if we had not stopped the terrorist attack? We were at war, but order was restored, and when order was restored, the roadblocks where they murdered the policemen and non-policemen, where they were garroted and tortured.

«The coup tried to destroy what we were building, because they destroyed; they have always been destroyers. In the 1980s they mined our ports, destroyed oil storage centers. Here the CIA agents placed bombs to cause that fire and that we would run out of oil, “emphasized the dictator.

In reference to the 2018 repression by the Police, the president affirmed that his institution “waged a heroic fight, because the condition that those who were in charge put in place was that the Police did not leave (…) but they began to attack the barracks every day (…), but in the end there was no other way but to tell the Police to restore order; the destruction of the economy could not be allowed.”

Points to the US of “manipulating” the private company

Regarding the break with private enterprise, Daniel Ortega affirmed that the “coup attempt” was with the “applause of the oligarchy”, because “the oligarchy was walking with a great alliance with the Government and the workers.”

“But when it came to adjusting the salary and income from social security, it meant hitting the capitalists in the bag, so there they broke and launched into plans that they had already premeditated, without mentioning that their reform of the Social Security System that caused the popular rebellion was the attempt to fleece up to 5% of the meager pensions of pensioners, among other unpopular measures.

He also accused the United States of threatening and pressuring the business community. “They told them that if they didn’t break the alliance with the Sandinista government, they were going to apply sanctions.”

“Many of these businessmen who launched themselves against us after having been in an alliance, having very good relations, were forced to do so because the Yankees threatened to freeze the funds they had there in the United States and therefore destroy their companies. and their businesses,” Ortega accused, without providing any evidence other than his old spiel.

He also pointed out to the sectors of the opposition that demand the release of political prisoners, wanting Nicaragua to break economic relations with the United States, however the dictator took refuge in relations with the Government of China. “Now we have economic relations with the Republic of China and we appreciate their solidarity with the Nicaraguan people.”

Reacted news: Opponents call on the Nicaraguan Army to “stand on the side of the people”

The supreme chief of the Army concluded his speech by assuring that the disputed military institution “is there to protect peace in Nicaragua, not to attack anyone, and that explains why the Army has very good relations with the population, the population knows that it is the way to that together we defend peace.

It should be noted that in the two speeches that Ortega made in 24 hours for the 43rd anniversary of the Army, he did not refer to the political prisoners or the exhibition he made with 27 opponents, held captive for more than a year in the Directorate of Aid. Judicial (DAJ) known as “El Nuevo Chiote” in Managua.
