A total of 229 candidates in the Cusco region, who will participate in the regional and municipal elections on October 2, are being investigated for corruption offenses. Within the political organizations with the most candidates investigated for crimes such as embezzlement, collusion or embezzlement, are Somos Perú, Inka Pachakuteq and Alianza para el Progreso. The list includes Werner Salcedo, who is running for the regional government for the second time. In addition, he also tried to reach the Congress of the Republic on three occasions: 2011, 2016 and 2020. Salcedo has two investigations for embezzlement, both in the preliminary diligence stage.
Another candidate for the same political organization is Albert Arenas, who was elected mayor of the Cusco district of San Jerónimo in the last municipal elections of 2018. Now, the mayor is running for the Provincial Municipality of Cusco. The politician has eight investigations: three for embezzlement in preliminary and intermediate diligence stages, two for embezzlement, one for collusion and another for aggravated collusion, and even one for incompatible negotiation or improper use of the position.
In the store of the heart, six candidates for provincial mayors, six candidates for provincial councilors, 20 candidates for district mayors, eight for district councilors, two for regional councils and one assistant to council are also being investigated.
Inka Pachakuteq: 38 investigated
Florentino Laime Mantilla aspires to the position of regional counselor with 12 investigations linked to alleged corruption. The candidate has eight proceedings for embezzlement in stages of preliminary diligence and formalized investigation. Laime is joined by the candidate for councilor for the district of Calca, Roger Pfuro Huamán, who registers three investigations for embezzlement, one for expert responsibility and another for embezzlement.
In the Inka Pachakuteq political group, six candidates for provincial mayorships, five for provincial councilors, 13 for district mayors, seven for district councillors, six for regional councils and one for a councilor are being investigated. The sum makes a total of 38 candidates investigated.
Alliance for Progress: 35 investigated
Willy Cuzmar is running for the municipal seat of the Wanchaq district. Eight alleged crimes weigh on said candidate: three are investigations for incompatible negotiation or improper use of the position, one for omission, refusal or delay of functional acts; two for embezzlement, and a couple more for simple collusion and embezzlement.
In Alianza Para el Progreso, the candidate for regional governor Boris Mujica is being investigated for improper charges, as well as the candidate for lieutenant governor Ivonne Mercado for aggravated collusion. Also six candidates for provincial mayorships, six for provincial councilors, 11 candidates for district mayors, four for district councilors and five for regional councils.

Together for Peru has investigated three candidates for provincial mayors, five candidates for provincial mayors, 11 for district mayors, four for district mayors and three for regional councils. This adds up to a total of 26 applicants.
In the group Frente de la Esperanza 2021 there is an investigation of Carlos Cuaresma, a candidate for regional governor, for the alleged crime of embezzlement. He is joined by another 23 people under investigation, most of them candidates for district mayors, such is the case of William Peña, who competes for the municipal seat of the Wanchaq district. He has two investigations: one for omission, refusal or delay of functional acts and another for unjustified delay in payment.
Peru Libre is not saved. In this political group, two candidates for provincial mayorships, four candidates for provincial mayorships, seven district mayorships, two district mayorships, and one for regional council are being investigated.
Podemos Peru has investigated two candidates for provincial mayorships, five for provincial councilors, six for district mayors and two for district councilors. While the political group Autogobierno Ayllu has investigated 11 candidates for public office, including candidates for provincial and district mayors.
In Fuerza Inka Amazonica, 10 candidates are being investigated. In Popular Action to four. Tupac Regional Front and Popular Renovation have three and two candidates under investigation, respectively.
