Within the framework of her conference “Successful Government Policies” in Tijuana, Baja California, the president of the capital boasted the policies applied in Mexico City in social, security, mobility and anti-corruption matters.
Before officials and leaders of Morena in Baja California, Sheinbaum said that President López Obrador has been the main promoter of gender parity in his cabinet, hence for the first time in history a woman heads the Secretariat of Public Security with Rosa Icela Rodriguez. He also recalled that the country already had its first Secretary of the Interior with Olga Sánchez Cordero.
She stressed that today there are more women who govern some entity of the Republic or are a fundamental part of decision-making in the country.
“When I go to public schools, girls come very close to me and once a girl told me: ‘can I be head of government?’ a matter of power, it is also taught by example,” he said.
She stressed that it is through the participation of women in the public and private life of the country that democracy can be enriched, since the machismo that still prevails in some parts of the national territory must be removed from the mentality of the population.
“What do we tell them? Girls can be engineers, lawyers, they can have the dream of being astronauts, they can be firefighters, they can be boxers, police officers, municipal presidents, deputies, governors and presidents of the Republic,” Sheinbaum said to applause from the audience and cheers of ” president, president!”
For her part, the Governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar, expressed her appreciation to Claudia Sheinbaum for the public policies applied in Mexico City and her career alongside President López Obrador.
In her speech, the president of Baja California considered that Sheinbaum is an example for the women of the country.
“Claudia is the standard-bearer of the transformation that is marking a before and after in the history of Mexico City and the country, and we are sure that the best part of this story is about to be written very soon,” he said.
