National Guard prepares personnel cut

The Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) launch a “voluntary separation” program for career National Guard personnel (GN).

Currently the National Guard is made up of 113,833 troops deployed in 266 regional coordinations in the country. 73,805 troops come from the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena) and represent 64.83%; 16,792 from the Secretary of the Navy (Semar) and constitute 14.75% and 23,236 of the extinct Federal Police that mean 20.41 percent.

The start-up of the program will take place days after the federal government sent to the Congress of the Union a decree initiative to reform secondary laws in order to transfer the operational and administrative control of the National Guard to the Ministry of National Defense and which was approved by the Chamber of Deputies a few hours ago, just on the third day it was presented.
