Without White Smoke, a series of meetings ended yesterday that sought to generate agreements on names to assume the new board of directors next week, and which should lead the development of voting on constitutional norms, as well as the exit plebiscite process. There were, for example, conversations between Non-Neutral Independents, Broad Front and Socialist Collective, on the one hand, and other individual political forces, on the other, to analyze possible scenarios and how much they are willing to negotiate.
The name of Cristina Dorador (Constituent Social Movements) was the first to be confirmed. Then came Patricia Politzer (Non-Neutral Independents), Bárbara Sepúlveda (Chile Digno), Eric Chinga (Plurinational Constituent Coordinator), Ramona Reyes (Socialist Collective), while the reserved seats in the Elisa Loncon sector also hope to propose a proper name. Recently, Beatriz Sánchez was raised as the letter of the Broad Front (FA). Her name cluttered the card and put more pressure, especially since it is about the former presidential candidate of the FA, whom Gabriel Boric himself and Giorgio Jackson went to look for to assume the presidential candidacy of the conglomerate in 2007, so the links between her and the now President-elect, in addition to being very close, would ensure an expeditious line of communication between the Constitutional Convention and La Moneda.
This is where at least two sources of tension are installed: the concentration of power in the FA, which will have the Presidency of the Republic and the table of the CC, and whether or not they will reach an agreement with the Communist Party (PC), a collective with which they have had a rather distant relationship in the Convention, which may not be so positive for some in the context of a Government together.
Regarding the latter, in the Communist Party they do not forget that the Broad Front did not give her the 11 sponsorships that Bárbara Sepúlveda needed to run for one of the deputy vice presidencies, being left out of that space. Back then, in July, Sepúlveda even said in Third that “it is worth having this precedent for the presidential and the parliamentary.” Since that great discord, both sectors separated waters in the Convention, the CP moving closer to reserved seats and Social Movements, while the FA did the same with the Socialist Collective.
But that kind of divorce that took place in the CC, in Approve Dignity, several believe that it should be corrected, in order not to open unnecessary flanks of conflict to the President-elect Gabriel Boric, when he takes office in La Moneda, and thus not stress the conformation of the equipment. That is why some in the bloc also considered it important that within the conversations by the table there were gestures with the Socialists, with the understanding that they could join government positions from March.
So far in the PC they say that they are “evaluating” the way to support Sánchez and that an attempt will be made to reach an agreement. In the FA, meanwhile, some members of that sector assured that “Bárbara Sepúlveda reaches a deputy vice-presidency yes or yes.”

From the Broad Front they assured that the issue of whether or not to run for the directive was discussed several times, aware that other groups or political sectors could see it as a “seizure of power.” However, the thesis that there was no compelling reason to stay below the competition prevailed, taking into account the autonomy that President-elect Gabriel Boric marked.
Along these lines, the constituent of the FA bloc, Daniel Stingo, highlighted Sánchez’s political and communicational qualities – who is a journalist and was at the time the bloc’s presidential candidate -, in addition to the ability to coordinate and talk with all sectors . “The fact that they are militants of the same conglomerate (with the elected president) does not give to say that they are concentrating power. I believe that there is autonomy, on the one hand, capacity with another and some coordination,” he said.
“What do politicians do? What are political parties looking for? To gain power to try to make their positions of vision of society, vision of community, prevail, and it is legitimate,” he added. He highlighted the characteristics of the other candidacies, but reiterated that the idea of the FA is to position Beatriz Sánchez as a card to lead the CC.
Among some constituent sectors – such as Constituent Social Movements, Non-Neutral Independent and even sectors of the center-right – they believe that the Broad Front should be available for an agreement that allows the presence of other political forces at the table, open space to sectors different, “let go a little” power. In the Collective of the Approve and in the Socialist Collective they de-dramatized the option and assured that they are in their legitimate right, although they pointed out that their candidate, Ramona Reyes, is the one who should lead the CC.
The atmosphere was somewhat tense, since so far most have stated that they are not available to go down a priori your letters. In the case of the Broad Front, they will insist with Sánchez at the executive table, the same vision of Non-Neutral Independents with Patricia Politzer, and to the same extent the Socialist Collective with Ramona Reyes. Regarding the latter, they believe that it would already have the clearest path, since there would be a greater possibility of counting on votes from a part of the center-right, especially RN, which is available to support it if sponsorships are committed from that space for an assistant vice presidency for Cristián Monckeberg.
The constituent of the PS, César Valenzuela, highlighted the political experience and a profile that fits the needs of the CC in the new time. Until now, the cards on the table are rather political and not technical, which was another of the characteristics that some expected, something that, in any case, Valenzuela de-dramatized. “It is always important to have the technical well considered. Now, it is the task of the Technical Secretariat of the Convention. These are political positions and political representations. Jaime (Bassa) did not necessarily arrive because of his technical qualities, but rather because of his political characteristics, from manage to articulate, “he stressed.
On the right-center-right, things are not rosy, as the last presidential election further cracked the already strained relationship between the “dialoguing” and the “tough.” In this past, the RN constituents are betting that they will be the ones to reach a deputy vice presidency, and that the UDI does not repeat the plate. They hope to have the support of unionism, however, they know that the key sponsorships will have to come from outside.
