The Comptroller of the Federal Intelligence Agency (IFA), Agustin Rossiaffirmed that from the Government they did not have “no alert” on Fernando André Sabag Montielthe person accused of having tried to assassinate the vice president Cristina Fernandez de Kirchnerwho refused to testify and remains detained at the Federal Police headquarters on Cavia Street.
“We had no alert on this person”responded Rossi when asked on CNN Radio about the detained aggressor, whom he defined as a “lone wolf, someone who put everything together by himself without too many logistics”.
“Based on the information I have and what could be traced from the networks, the attacker appears with a symbolic neo-Nazi charge, but nothing appears that could infer that he was predisposed to attack anyone, least of all the Vice President,” Rossi stated.
Meanwhile, he ruled out the possibility that custody had failed since “they were very attentive” and added: “I understand that custody had increased after what happened last week.”
However, he added that “It is very difficult to evaluate a security operation without knowing how it was designed and planned”.
Lastly, he reiterated that the attack “is a shocking political event in the life of the country”, which “does not include any antecedents, and is only comparable to that assassination attempt on Lisandro De La Torre, which inspired a movie, when they tried to assassinate him and the senator elected by Santa Fe, Enzo Bordabehere, intervened, who ends up dying”.
