Members of the Association of Judges and Officials of the National Justice (AMFJN) repudiated the attempted assassination of Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, and urged the Judiciary to be “up to the circumstances” and “to pronounce clearly” against acts of violence.
“Society, today more than ever, challenges us. It demands responsibility, commitment, attachment to the democratic system and the defense of institutions. Let us rise to the occasion,” they exhorted through a statement from the organization that brings together jurists. .
Meanwhile, they considered that the attack against Cristina Fernández de Kirchner “not only implies an attack on the person and investiture” of the Vice President, “but also on the system and institutions of the Republic.”
They also expressed their “solidarity with her, with her family” and in turn, “with those who have the institutional responsibility to investigate, quickly and transparently, the serious attack.”
In addition, they exhorted officials linked to justice to speak out “with clarity and act honoring our positions, the judicial function and defending the democratic system of government.”
“Truth and Justice must govern our activity,” they added.
In this way, they appealed that “as members of one of the three powers of the State it is our obligation to ensure respect for constitutional principles and values, essential requirements for social peace.”
