Josefina Gurdián, mother of Ana Margarita Vijil and grandmother of Tamara Dávila, sent a message through her social networks to the political prisoners who were presented by the regime on August 31 to appear in the Managua courts before Ortega magistrate Octavio Ernest Rothschuh.
«From the pain of my illness, the courage, the smile, the tranquility of his innocence fill me with immense pride. My daughter Ana Margarita (Vijil) and my granddaughter Tamara Dávila, with great weight loss, 15 months in total isolation, the hunger they suffer and the pain in their backs and joints, which cannot be seen in the photographs, show themselves worthy and haughty,” said Gurdián, known as Pinita, 78 years old.

Gurdián states that both “are my pride and on the saddest days, the sun’s rays that illuminate me unite me with them, because although their sunrises are rare, at least we share that, the same sun that shines on us and blesses us . They unknowingly bless me and fill me with encouragement and hope. His sweetness, his courage challenges us. My God, my only Lord, my peace in my pain. I rely on him to continue forward with hopes for a better future.”
Vijil has been imprisoned since June 2021, accused and convicted of alleged treason against the country. During this time she had not been seen publicly, it was until this day that the regime exhibited her in front of propagandistic media to sign the minutes of the so-called “informative hearing” where the hostage of conscience kept her gaze steady, smiling at the “executioners ».
In the case of the opposition Tamara Dávila, she was arrested on June 12, 2021. The Nicaraguan dictatorship decided to imprison Dávila for allegedly violating Law 1055 or Sovereignty Law. She accused her and sentenced her to eight years in prison for the alleged crime of “conspiracy to undermine national integrity” and “treason against the country.”

Dávila was seen to be very thin, with dark circles under her eyes and physical damage from the torture she has received for more than a year of confinement in the cells of the Judicial Assistance Directorate (DAJ), known as “El Nuevo Chipote.” It is the first time that Tamara Dávila has been seen since she was detained by the dictatorship’s police on the eve of the national elections.
According to Gurdián’s complaints, both opponents are under psychological and physical torture, in isolation cells. He continues to demand the immediate and unconditional release of the opponents from the Daniel Ortega regime because “I cannot die without being with them.”
