The Minister of the Interior, Willy Huertamust go to the plenary session of Congress to answer the interpellation presented against him for the changes that were made in the National Police, including the General Inspectorate where President Pedro Castillo hopes that Colonel Harvey Colchado will be sanctioned.
The interpellation was approved with 67 votes in favor, 36 against and one abstention.
Likewise, the proposal of the Presidency of the Legislative Power for the session to take place on Wednesday, September 7 at 6 pm obtained the support of 71 votes, with 34 against and no abstentions.
The motion that was put to the vote this Friday has an interpellatory list of twelve questions, including doubts about the changes that the Government made when establishing the departure of the PNP Commander General Luis Vera and his replacement by Raúl Alvarado, who was previously an inspector general.
The resolutions signed by Pedro Castillo and Willy Huerta also include the appointment of Segundo Mejía Montenegro as the new inspector general, head of the instance where the president’s lawyer, Eduardo Pachas, has requested that Harvey Colchado be sanctioned with retirement.
The interpellation was supported by Congresswoman Adriana Tudela, of Avanza País, who assured that the presentation of the Minister of the Interior before the Defense Commission was not satisfactory.
Willy Huerta announces attendance
During the press conference given at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) on Wednesday, August 31, the head of the Ministry announced that he will attend Parliament to respond to the interpellatory statement.
“Regarding the interpellation motion filed against me, I must say that in my management I have respected and will respect the procedure established by the Constitution and the law. That is why I am going to attend the Congress of the Republic to explain the decisions adopted that are in accordance with the law. That’s all I have to say for now.”said the minister.
