After the “propaganda show” that Daniel Ortega put on to show the 70-year-old political prisoner, Violeta Granera; The opposition’s children denounced that the images released by the official media reflect the physical deterioration to which her mother has been subjected due to the poor conditions in which she remains in the “El Nuevo Chipote” torture prison.
Julio Sandino and his brother expressed being impressed by the physical condition that the hostage of the dictatorship presents in more than a year of confinement. “We were able to see our mother for the first time in the published photographs and, indeed, she shows us what our brother has been telling us, our mother is physically impaired,” they indicated in a video.
“She is a woman over 70 years old, physically beaten by the poor conditions in which she finds herself, by sleeping on a concrete bed, by poor nutrition, by isolation and for more than eight months where her teeth have not been treated by a professional,” they denounced.

In addition, the children of Violeta Granera pointed out that in the 450 days that their mother has been imprisoned, the only information they had about her was from her brother, after “making the whimsical visits that this regime has ordered for her visit.”
In the time she has been in prison, the opponent has only been authorized ten visits from her relatives, who have been “monitored” by police officers at all times.
Given this situation, Granera’s children stressed that in the published photographs of their mother they managed to verify “her moral strength and her unremitting struggle” for the freedom of Nicaragua.
“Despite the physical deterioration, we, his children, can also see what we have always known and that we are now more convinced than ever, and that is his moral strength and his unremitting struggle for democracy and justice in Nicaragua,” they stated.
“That is why we are proud of her, we only have to say, again loudly, that my mother is innocent of any charge that this dictatorship is dictating to her,” they added.
Likewise, they demanded from the Ortega-Murillo regime the immediate release of Violeta Granera and that of the other political prisoners who remain captive in inhumane conditions.
