Entrepreneurs of the textile sector from all over the country they meet in the second convention of clothing manufacturers, to evaluate new entrepreneurial models that allow them to continue reactivating the economy.
In the middle of the meeting the union asked the new government that the labor and tax reforms do not affect that sector of the economy, that generates more than a million direct jobs for many families in vulnerable conditions.
The sector warned that the modifications in the payment of extra night hours and a higher tax burden could affect job creationfor which they requested guarantees for the textile industry in Colombia.
Christián Arango, spokesman for Zoe, pointed out that “from now on We make an urgent call to the National Government to look at the textile industry, to help entrepreneurs and not discourage economic growth and employment, with a tax reform that has a negative impact on business.”
He added that “That is why we ask that, on the contrary, taxes be lowered and a favorable scenario be created to support the new initiatives, Entrepreneurs who ask for more action than words. If we are exempted from certain taxes, we will be able to generate more sources of employment, train entrepreneurs who do not arise due to lack of attention, investment, a true interest that helps them get out of informality.

On the other hand, the merchants referred to the ‘seed capital’ project carried out by various unions in the sector, in order to stay in the market and generate thousands of jobs.
The statements were made in the middle of the “we are the future 2022” event organized by the Colombian multinational Zoe Company, with a presence in several Latin American countries.
According to the Bogota Chamber of Commerce, the textile and fashion industry in Colombia would close this year with a transversal contraction of between 11% and 13% in its sales,
“This is one of the first models in Colombia that are developed as pilot plans in the country, in which workers are allowed to be entrepreneurs too, because we give them that ‘seed capital,’ we train them and pay for their training,” Arango said.
