Abby Martin, Uncle Sam’s CDR

Abby Martin, Cuba

Havana Cuba. – On these days has been news the visit to the Island of a group of Americans, so friendly with the Cuban people that they land directly in the arms of the political class to fall, for the umpteenth time, into the game of appearances. The “cultural exchanges” that President Joe Biden re-authorized after his review of Trump’s policy towards Cuba have made possible the arrival of journalist Abby Martin and other bawdy leftists, staunch defenders of the socialist model applied in Cuba, the which, as Fidel Castro himself assured in an interview in 2010, “has not worked even for us.”

The regime that Miguel Díaz-Canel heads today needs the support of those collaborators who love to contemplate our poverty from their height, from the certainty that they are only here as spectators and that very soon a plane will return them to their consumer societies, where they can speak bad things about capitalism without their guts rumbling, or being persecuted for their political opinions. They are the usual hypocrites, but it is difficult to understand so much sympathy for the Cuban dictatorship after the events of July 11, 2021 and in the midst of the largest exodus in the history of this nation, each day closer to ceasing to be so.

Abby Martin has come to make a documentary about the Cuban vaccines against COVID-19, because apparently Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla’s perretas in the field of diplomacy have not worked, nor the advertising displayed for tourists to come to enjoy beaches, mojito and Sovereign 2.0, nor the efforts before the World Health Organization (WHO) to obtain the endorsement in favor of the Abdala immunogen.

In Abby Martin’s documentary there will be no lack of praise for the Cuban scientific pole promoted by Fidel Castro, possibly the only “achievement” that still stands after the collapse of the health system and the decline of education. Once again the journalist will blame the embargo, and she will speak of the resilience of the Cuban people as if it were something that other peoples should imitate.

Abby Martin was a correspondent for RT America in Washington DC, from which he disassociated himself after an unconvincing criticism of Russia for the invasion of Crimea in 2014. He currently directs the program “The files of the Empire” that is broadcast on TeleSur, a network financed mainly by Chavista Venezuela, although Martin ensures that the program is “editorially independent”.

Although she does not appear linked to a specific political party, several colleagues have accused her of being pro-Russian and sympathizing with the most dangerous left. During her recent visit to the Union of Cuban Journalists (UPEC) in Havana, Martin lamented that freedom of the press and human rights are violated in the United States; all this while almost a dozen Cuban independent journalists publicly quit his job due to pressure from State Security.

These details do not interest Abby Martin, who bowed to the dictatorship’s discourse without missing a line and made room in her “progressive” agenda to visit the La Corbata neighborhood, which today is not sunk in shit thanks to the number of people who were beaten to death on July 11, 2021 for claiming their rights. For Martin, La Corbata is “a developing town” despite the severe restrictions imposed by the blockade; where the people are poor but happy, and the support for the Revolution is total.

There was even time for a pedicab ride with Gerardo Hernández, the spy turned national coordinator of the CDR, who got on the tricycle and took a ride around the yuma through that neighborhood full of insurance, in case any compatriot thought shout that all that was a lie, that they are killing us with hunger and disease. And you see the blonde smiling in the very heart of misery wearing makeup, receiving the CDR award, totally oblivious to the pedal that a real pedicab driver has to give to collect a few pesos and feed her children.

Abby Martin affirmed that the Cuban people “are only looking for their own path”, and she is right. They have gone, by the tens of thousands, to seek their future throughout Central America, because this system that seems so glorious to her has offered them nothing but hardship and repression. And not to skimp on cynicism, Martin said that “in the last 15 years it has become more difficult for him to ignore Cuban advances such as international medical services and vaccines.”

The dilapidated hospitals where Cubans die due to negligence that no one assumes, and where resources are lacking even to do a blood glucose test, do not interest the reporter. These are the “friends” of the people, the “brave” journalists who face the Pentagon in lands of freedom and protected by a true democracy; but they do not have the courage to go to any hospital where ordinary people are treated, to closely appreciate the “free” health services that they constantly blame us for.

Uncle Sam’s cederista came to collect material to make propaganda in favor of a regime that she knows well. There are many leftists in the world, but whoever claims that the Cuban model is the best, after having seen what conditions the island has been left in thanks to the communism imposed by Fidel Castro, must be closely watched and isolated from political power. These people want the ruin of their country, the destruction of the family and the return of slavery. Socialism is misery. Cuba is misery. Whoever claims otherwise is lying.
