The 5G mobile telephony technology starts operating next Monday (5th) in three capital cities: Fortaleza, Natal and Recife. The decision was taken this Thursday (1st) by the Monitoring Group for the Implementation of Solutions for Interference Problems in the 3,625 to 3,700 MHz band (Gaispi), which is linked to the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel).
According to the rules in force, until November 28, Claro, Tim and Vivo providers must have at least 63 activated 5G stations in Recife, 33 in Natal and 102 in Fortaleza.
The cities of Brasília, Belo Horizonte, Curitiba, florianopolisGoiânia, João Pessoa, Palmas, Porto Alegre, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, São Paulo and Vitória.
Anatel’s board of directors had already approved, last month, the extension to October 28 of the release of the use of 5G in the 3.5 GHz band, which is the one that guarantees the greatest potential of the fifth generation in other capitals.
According to the agency, the measure was necessary to allow the completion of actions to vacate the band and mitigate possible interference in the reception of Fixed Satellite Service (FSS) stations. Despite this, Gaispi may bring forward the activation date.
TV
Whoever receives broadcast TV broadcasts through the satellite dish needs to adapt the equipment to avoid possible interference with this 3.5 GHz frequency band.
Enrolled in the Single Registry for Social Programs of the Federal Government (CadÚnico) who receive a satellite TV signal can request the free kit to adapt the equipment. Information can be obtained from the Stay tunedmaintained by the Range Management Entity (EAF).
Fifth generation
The newest generation of mobile internet, 5G technology offers an average speed of 1 Gigabit (Gbps), ten times higher than the 4G signal, with the possibility of reaching up to 20 Gbps. In addition, the signal has lower latency (delay) in data transmission.
To have access to 5G technology, the customer must have a SIM card and a device that accepts the connection, in addition to being in the operator’s coverage area. So far, Anatel has certified and approved 83 models of cell phones to receive the 5G signal. The list is available at agency website.
