In a campaign in the city of Piracicaba (SP), in the interior of São Paulo, Felipe D’Avila saw today (1st) initiatives by agricultural companies. The candidate for the Presidency of the Republic by Novo assessed that the sector is environmentally sustainable.
“Which country in the world produces soy and maintains 35% of legal reserve as in the Cerrado? Which country in the world produces a ton of cocoa and maintains 80% of reserve as in the northern region of the country? What we have to do is have an environmental policy to fight deforestation and change Brazil’s international image,” he said.
D’Avila pointed out that, in Brazil, agribusiness was the sector that had the greatest growth in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the last 10 years. “It is the great lever for the country’s progress, for the generation of employment, investment and especially for economic growth. It is Brazil that works and that can teach other sectors”, he emphasized.
The candidate also defended the need to “take the heavy state off the shoulders of those who produce”. For him, sustainable agriculture is an opportunity to bring more investment to the country. He also praised what he saw in Piracicaba. “Precision agriculture depends on technology. When we have an environment like this that connects large companies with technology companies to solve problems not only of productivity, product development, but also with the part of services, we see this thriving agro”, said.
